Why I wrote The Kind Leader

I’m super excited, because yesterday afternoon a big box of copies of The Kind Leader arrived on my doorstep! I’m so happy with the way the book turned out! Today, I thought I’d share some of the reasons I wrote The Kind Leader.

1. Because failures of leadership and failures of kindness are having devastating and debilitating effects for so many. From climate change, to social problems, to mental health problems, and more, when leaders act, speak and think unkindly, we all suffer.

2. Because when I see a problem, I think “Someone needs to do something about a problem…and that someone is ME!” Looking around at all the suffering I see and hear about from people in organizations and communities, I knew I had to do something. I need to be part of the solution. Which is why the book is fille, not just with theory and research, but with practical exercises for you to do to practice leading with kindness immediately.

3. To bring people who are tired of unkindness at work, at home and in the community together to get to know each other, support each other and help create kinder, better ways to lead, to work and to live together. One of the things I’ve found that reduces fear the most is community. There is safely in numbers. So, if you have been afraid to say “I’m tired of all the unkindness” but have been worried of what others might think, or that you’d have to go it alone, don’t be. You’ll find a community of people, just like you, ready to change the way they lead, to change the world! You can find us right here at www.kindleadership.org and on LinkedIn in The Kind Leader Practice Community Group! I can’t wait for you to join!

Thank you so much in joining me in this movement to create a kinder, better world through leadership! Don’t worry, don’t be afraid, you’re not alone, there’s lots of us who want to make this change and we’re in it together!
