What Kind of Words Describe Kind Leadership?

Writer's picture: Karyn RossKaryn Ross

What’s the first word that comes to your mind when you think about Leadership?

Is it one of these:

Probably not!

Chances are it’s a word like bold, charismatic, decisive, strategic or visionary. How do I know this? Because when I did the research for my The Kind Leader, I looked up the words most commonly associated with leadership. And, as you can imagine, words like patient, kind, and thoughtful, aren’t among them.

However, whenever I ask people to describe the leaders who have had the most positive impact on them, who have helped them learn and grow, challenged them to do the best work they could do and be the best person they could be, these are the words that come up consistently.

So, I have a question for you today! When you think about leaders who have had a positive influence in your life and your organization, what word(s) would you use to describe them? What word(s) would you add to this list?

Looking forward to seeing your choices, and to co-creating a new list of words associated with Kind Leadership! I'll be publishing our new list soon!

Thanks for your help!
